How to cancel ChatGPT

Offers to stay
- When you start cancelling, ChatGPT sometimes offers a free month of Plus. Not everyone gets it. If you accept, you're charged again after the free month unless you cancel.Source, checked on 23 Oct 2026.
The cancel flow may show you an offer to stay, such as a discount or a pause. You can always say no and finish cancelling.
Steps
- Sign in at chatgpt.com.
- Open your account menu, then Settings.
- Select Billing.
- Under Cancel plan, select Cancel.
Before you cancel
- Cancel at least 24 hours before the next billing date.
- If you pay through Apple or Google Play, cancel there instead. Cancelling with ChatGPT doesn't stop that billing.
- Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel the subscription.
Paid through Apple or Google Play?
If you subscribed in the ChatGPT app on your phone, Apple or Google Play may bill you. Then cancel it there:
